Musician changes in the band

The band gives thanks to Anu Kärnä for her long contribution to the band. Nadja Demnati, who also playes at Oulu Symphony Orchestra will replace her in the trombone line-up. The band would like to wish Anu all the best for her future adventures and welcome Nadja into the band. updated 5.1.2012

5. OASBB Festival 24.-25.2.2012

The programme has been published and the tickets are now on sale nationwide at lippupalvelu. The Festival features guest big band performances, a performance by jazz legend Randy Brecker (USA) and two fab Finnish female vocalists. Stay tuned! updated 5.1.2012

New youth orchestra has started in Oulu

The successful cooperation of Oulu Conservatory, Madetoja Music Sixth Form and Oulu All Star Big Band has produced a new band called OYJO, aka Oulu Youth Jazz Orchestra. There has been big band activities for young people in Oulu before, but it is due to the fruitful cooperation of these organisations and the Music on Top -project that the big band of Oulu youth has received some new lift and a new name OYJO. The band is lead by OASBB chairman Jaakko Jauhiainen and artistic director Tappi Maunuvaara. You can see OYJO performing together with OASBB on 16th December at Valve Cultural Centre and Uusi Seurahuone 25th February. See you there! updated 21.11.2011

New concert series to start!

The beginning of a new series of concerts is the 16.12. In the Spirit of Benny Goodman. The concert kicks of a series to be held at the Cultural Centre Valve. next spring will bring a Tribute to Oscar Petterson, featuring pianist Marian Petrescu.
